Requirements to Own a small Business: Determined, able to take risk (be calculated), Persistent, know when to cut losses and walk away in order to live life in a much grander way.

Cutting Losses

Cutting losses: This is by far one of the hardest things for me and possibly some of you can relate. When we start a new business, we are excited, were're happy and confident because in that moment we are ready to seize the opportunity. It is a moment of clarity (I promise I wont forget where I left off but we need to pause and talk about something real quick >>>)

Lets talk about, Clarity!

Clarity of vision, purpose, ideas. When we have these moments, it feels as if time has slowed down and doubt seems to disappear. The other thing no one tells us about clarity is the amount of times we can still be wrong even while immersed in the clouds of clarity.

What can go wrong when everything feels so right?

As humans we tend to make several good and bad decisions out of the thousands of decisions we are presented everyday (60,000 to 70,000 approximate thoughts a day). When it comes to our business, profit and loss can be tied to those decisions in a very tangible way. We will either "kill it" or "bomb it", the later being the bad one.

Oops, there go those terms again; "good" and "bad"

In the words of a very wise man, " What does it meannn?" While running our business we have to untie "good" business outcomes from making money on the day, week, month etc. and untie "bad" business outcomes from our own personal self worth.

Opportunity

Lets continue where we left off, "opportunity", seeing it and seizing it makes us feel like we are indeed fulfilling our life's purpose. What we have undeniably done is tie our sense of self worth to the "seized opportunity", and if everything goes as planned, i.e. the business or investment is profitable, we add it to our "life's purpose" piggy bank which is tied to our self-worth...annnd Kaboom, a recipe sure to blow up in your face.

What happens if your business fails?

But what happens if your business or investment is a bust and you lose big? you're right, your self worth is a bust and everything that comes with it. You have to untie your self worth from the outcome of your business or investments. This writing is meant to make you aware of what needs to be done. It's not hard you just need to be made aware of what you are doing (Hint: my blog you're currently reading). I like to say pain retains and tho it does I think we can go without certain pains and work towards a better life.

Reflection

If this resonated with you, take a moment for some honest reflection: Do you find your self-worth tied to your successes and failures? It's a common trap, but a dangerous one. The missing piece in truly achieving this separation is often found in a place beyond the material: the spiritual realm.

Yes, in my own journey, I was helped immensely by people, places, and events that propelled my life forward. But the foundation of that transformation was a spiritual connection. For me, it was calling on the name of Jesus.

Now, whether that resonates with you or not isn't the point. My message is this: true maturity – the kind that allows you to detach self-worth from external outcomes – often comes from a deeper connection to a much larger power than your own.

Maturity isn't about how much you play video games or shop; it's about your daily conversation with your inner self, and like I stated above it's much deeper but start in baby steps and work your way to a brisk running pace.

Once you've fixed yourself

You can not leave people hanging. You have to find the courage to help others. What is life if everything we do is for us. Loving people and caring for them can be difficult when we are absolutely distracted by our own selfish desires but, the more you press into spending quality time with people the easier it becomes. By this time you should have taken care of the thing that troubles you the most, which is you.
